The warning signs

• Repair costs are approaching the value of the equipment
• The attenuator is not MASH 2016 compliant and the 2030 deadline is near
• Multiple systems are failing in the same season
• Corrosion or fatigue is showing up across the frame, not just one spot
• The truck cannot pass re-certification without major work

The 2030 factor

For older units, the deadline forces the decision. Non-MASH-2016 attenuators built before 2023 must be off the road by January 1, 2030. If your truck is on that list, pouring money into repairs buys limited road time. An overhaul that brings the truck to current standards is the better spend.
